Arlington Farmers Markets: Courthouse Winter Hours

When is the Arlington Farmers Market in Courthouse open this winter?
FRESHFARM's Arlington market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through December 26, 2026, in the Courthouse parking lot at 1400 N Courthouse Rd. In January through March 2027, the winter hours are 9 a.m. to noon.

This Saturday morning is a good one to know where the weekly market is, because it keeps going while many seasonal markets pack up.

FRESHFARM's market page lists the season as January 3 to December 26, with Saturday hours of 8 a.m. to noon. It calls this a year-round market, with winter hours of 9 a.m. to noon from January to March 2027. The Arlington County farmers market page lists the same Saturday hours, but its end date reads December 28, which is not a Saturday this year. We used FRESHFARM's date. FRESHFARM says it has been running since 1979 and calls the Arlington market one of the largest markets in the region. It describes a weekly celebration of local food where you can pick up anything from farmstead goat cheese to pastured bison, and says you can get all your groceries and more at the Arlington market.

The market page lists more than fifty farmers and producers. Going by their names, you will find farms and growers such as Potomac Vegetable Farms, Twin Springs Fruit Farm, Toigo Orchards, Waterpenny Farm and Wollam Gardens. The list also has meat and fish sellers such as Smith Meadows Meats and Cold Country Salmon, and cheese and dairy makers such as Clear Spring Creamery, Country View Creamery and Cheese Goatees. Mushroom sellers include Manchester Mushroom Farm and The Mushroom Stand.

For prepared food and treats, the list includes Harvest Symphony Bakery, RavenHook Bakehouse, Mac's Donuts, House of Empanadas, Pasta Ilgatto, Tae-Gu Kimchi and Taco Loco. For a drink, look for Black House Coffee Company, Red Bean Harvest Coffee, Pearl Fine Teas and Mountain Culture Kombucha. Vendors can change from week to week, so use the list as a guide, not a promise.

FRESHFARM's page lists a "Fresh Food Drive at Arlington" on Saturday, November 21, with the line "Make Someone's Thanksgiving With the Gift of Local Food." FRESHFARM says all of its markets accept SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior FMNP checks. It says FreshMatch gives a dollar-for-dollar match on all federal benefits spent at market, which helps shoppers take home more fresh produce and nutritious foods. For other payment types, ask each vendor.

FRESHFARM's page links seasonal recipes, and the ones listed are Apple Butter, Black-Eyed Peas with Collard Greens, Broccoli Slaw and an Apple Beet Carrot (ABC) Salad. The page also has an in-season list that names cauliflower, eggplant, leeks, sweet potatoes and onions. The Arlington County page lists more for October, including kale, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, turnips, beets, Brussels sprouts, apples, pears, pumpkins and winter squash. FRESHFARM also runs a Ballston market on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. through December 17, in Welburn Square at 901 N Taylor St, just across the street from the Ballston Metro stop. The page lists winter hours of 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. from December 2026 to March 2027. On the first Thursday of each month it hosts a Mega Market with music, a beer and wine garden and giveaways, so the next one is Thursday, December 3. Details: FRESHFARM Ballston Market.

Arlington has more than one market, on different days, so you can pick the one that fits your week. Field to Table, which runs several of them, lists these:

• Westover Farmers Market, 1644 N. McKinley Road: Sundays, 8 a.m. to noon from April to November, then 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from December to March.
• Fairlington Farmers Market, 3308 S. Stafford Street: Sundays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May to November.
• Cherrydale Farmers Market, 4100 Vacation Lane: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon, April to November.
• Lubber Run Farmers Market, 4401 N. Henderson Road: Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon, April to November.

The Columbia Pike Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 2820 Columbia Pike. Arlington County's market page lists it the same way, as open year round. Details: Arlington County farmers markets.

Saturdays: Courthouse, Cherrydale and Lubber Run. Sundays: Westover, Fairlington and Columbia Pike. Thursdays: Ballston. Hours and seasons differ, so use the lists above.

FRESHFARM says business and community tabling partners can host an informational table at the market. It also says it opens applications twice a year for farmers and producers who sell food or farm-based products grown within a 200-mile radius of the market.
