Relocating to Penrose: Close to Everything

Relocating to Penrose puts you in a small, historic neighborhood with a lot close by. Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall (Fort Myer) is next door, the Pentagon is a short drive away, Route 50 runs along the north edge toward DC, and Penrose Square on Columbia Pike has a Giant grocery store, restaurants and salons.

If you are moving here for a new job, we help you find the right home from wherever you are now, and we time it so the move fits your start date.

Buying in Penrose From Somewhere Else

The Mike Webb Team is Mike and Claudia Webb, with RE/MAX Allegiance, and we have more than 34 years in real estate. About three out of four of our sales are in Arlington.

When you cannot be here, we tour Penrose homes for you on FaceTime, room by room, and show you what listing photos leave out, from the condition of an older house to what is across the street. We build the search, the offer and the closing around the day your new job begins.

When you can visit, we show you the neighborhood: Penrose Square for groceries and a meal, the three parks, and the everyday places you will use. And you get everything any buyer gets from us: a consultation, a search set up to your criteria, a home value report before every offer, negotiation, inspection help and support through the final walk-through and closing.

Before we tour homes, you get pre-approved through a lender or your own bank or credit union, and we sign a written buyer agreement together so you know exactly how we will work with you.

Penrose Homes, Explained for Newcomers

Penrose is a historic district. According to the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, it includes houses built across 12 subdivisions platted between 1882 and 1943, and a notable number of them are kit or mail-order houses. You will also find Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals, bungalows, duplexes, a few small apartment buildings and new craftsman homes. If you plan changes to a house, check with Arlington County about what applies to that address.

Older houses deserve a careful inspection, and you should not miss it just because you are far away. We can coordinate it, or you can schedule it yourself, and either way we go over the results with you and advise you on how to proceed.

Penrose is served by Alice West Fleet Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Wakefield High School. Boundaries change, so check the current Arlington Public Schools boundary map for any address.

The Market Waiting for You

Buyers want to be in Arlington. In Bright MLS's Home Demand Index for October 2026, based on September activity, buyer demand in Arlington was rated High (150), second of all the counties and cities in the Washington-area report.

In ZIP code 22204, which includes Penrose, homes that sold from July through September 2026 took an average of 54 days to sell and received about 97.2% of their original list price, according to Bright MLS. Arlington County had about 3.9 months of supply in September 2026, up from 3.0 a year earlier. Being pre-approved before you start lets you act quickly, even from a distance.
