Buying a Home in Highland Park-Overlee & Leeway Overlee
The right home, at the right price, with your eyes open, from the first conversation to closing day.
Buying Here: Many Kinds of Houses on One Street
Shopping in Highland Park-Overlee Knolls and Leeway Overlee means choosing among single-family houses built over more than a century, in ZIP codes 22205 and 22207. You might tour an early-1900s house with a front porch, a 1940s brick Colonial and a house finished last year, all within a few blocks.
Whether you are moving up, buying your first home or downsizing, the first step is deciding what matters most: original character, move-in-ready updates, yard size, or a short trip to the Metro. We help you narrow the search to the houses that fit.
This Fall's Market for Buyers Here
Fewer new houses are coming up for sale than condos. NVAR reported detached listings in its Northern Virginia region up 5.7% in September 2026 from a year earlier, while condo and townhouse listings rose 49.7%. Bright MLS put Arlington County at about 3.9 months of supply that month, up from 3.0.
Prices in Arlington are still climbing. Bright MLS reported the county's median sale price for July through September 2026 up 11.1% from a year earlier. With a bit more on the market overall, you may have more time to think and more room to negotiate repairs or closing help.
Before you make an offer, we look at recent sales of similar houses nearby with you, so you know the house's value before you pick a number.
What to Check in an Older or Rebuilt House
In an older house, ask about the age of the roof, windows, furnace, air conditioning and water heater, whether the wiring and plumbing have been updated, and whether there are signs of water in the basement. Older paint may contain lead, so read the lead-based paint disclosure that comes with homes built before 1978.
In a newer or rebuilt house, ask for the permits and the builder's warranty, and find out what is still under warranty when you move in.
Highland Park-Overlee Knolls is a National Register historic district. Arlington County notes that this listing is honorary and does not add special restrictions for owners.
A home inspection checks the structure, roof, electrical, plumbing and systems. We can set it up, or you can book it yourself, and we read the report with you. If a house is not a good fit, we will tell you.
