Buying a Home in Yorktown
The right home, at the right price, with your eyes open, from the first conversation to closing day.
Buying in Yorktown: Older Homes and New Builds
Arlington's Yorktown neighborhood, in ZIP code 22207, sits northwest of Ballston near Yorktown High School, Greenbrier Park and the Lee-Harrison shopping center. Homes are mostly single-family houses, some from the middle of the 1900s and some built in recent years.
That mix gives you a real choice: an older home you can update over time, or a newer one that is ready now. Whether you are moving up, buying your first home or downsizing, we help you weigh the trade-offs and narrow your search.

This Fall's Market for Yorktown Buyers
Houses remain harder to find than condos. NVAR reported detached listings in its Northern Virginia region up 5.7% in September 2026 from a year earlier, while condo and townhouse listings rose 49.7%. Bright MLS showed Arlington County at about 3.9 months of supply that month, up from 3.0.
Bright MLS also reported Arlington's median sale price for July through September 2026 up 11.1% from a year earlier. With more homes on the market overall, you may have time to compare and room to ask for repairs or closing help.
We look at recent sales of similar homes with you before you make an offer, keeping older homes and new builds in separate groups, so your offer fits the house you are buying.
What to Check Before You Buy
In an older house, ask about the age of the roof, windows, furnace, air conditioning and water heater, whether the wiring and electrical panel have been updated, and whether any addition or finished basement had permits. Look for signs of water in the basement, and read the lead-based paint disclosure that comes with homes built before 1978.
In a new build, ask for the permits, the builder's warranty and what it covers, and have the home inspected anyway. New construction can have problems too.
A home inspection checks the structure, roof, electrical, plumbing and systems. We can set it up, or you can schedule it yourself, and we go through the report with you. If a house is not right for you, we will tell you.

What kinds of homes are for sale in Yorktown?
Mostly single-family houses, some from the middle of the 1900s and some built in recent years.
Should I buy an older home or a new build here?
It depends on your budget and plans. An older home may cost less and let you update over time, while a new build is ready now. We can show you both so you can compare.
Do I need an inspection on a new home?
We recommend one. New construction can still have issues, and the inspection gives you a list to raise with the builder.
