Lyon Village History & Neighborhoods Nearby
In 1923 developer Frank Lyon bought the Cruit family farm north of Clarendon, and his company platted the first section of Lyon Village that year. Most lots sold during the 1920s, and by 1950 the neighborhood had more than 800 buildings. The neighbors formed a citizens association in 1926 and built their own Community House in 1949.
Lyon Village was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register in 2001 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, a listing that places no architectural restrictions on owners. Buyers who like Lyon Village often look at Clarendon-Courthouse, Lyon Park and Ashton Heights to the south, too. Which one fits is a matter of preference.
Lyon Village Homes: Market & Home Types
The homes are mostly single-family, from small original Cape Cods and bungalows to large Colonials and newer custom houses, with a few garden-style and low-rise condos near the edges. A small original house and a new one sell at very different prices.
